Setup guide
When a donation comes in, a marble rolls down between the pegs and lands in one slot at the bottom. The slot it lands in decides the mission for that stream, and you decide what each slot says.
Add it to your stream
In your streaming software, add a browser source and enter this site's overlay address. The background is transparent, so it sits right over your game or cam, and marbles only show while the board is running.
We recommend 420 wide and 560 tall. The board is drawn to fit that size, and making it larger only adds empty margin. Fill in the missions on the first screen and the address is generated for you. Copy it and use it.
The overlay screen is blocked from search. It is an address for your stream, not a place people should land on from search.
Eight mission slots
There are eight slots at the bottom, and you can write any text you want in each one. Slots left empty are filled with Miss, and if you write more than eight, only the first eight are used.
The middle slots come up most often and the two ends come up rarely. The marble goes left or right at each of seven rows of pegs, and that is why. Count it out and the difference is large.
How often each slot comes up
The marble passes seven pegs and goes left or right at each one, so there are 128 possible paths. They split across the slots like this.
- Each of the two end slots is 1 in 128, or 0.8 percent.
- Each of the two slots next to them is 5.5 percent.
- The next two slots are 16.4 percent each.
- The two middle slots are 27.3 percent each, so they come up most often.
Add up the four middle slots and the chance is over 87 percent. Think of the two ends as slots that do not come up even once in ten drops.
So what goes where
Put the missions you want to come up often in the middle and the special ones at the ends, and the board works better. Do it the other way around and hard missions keep landing, which can make the stream feel heavy.
An end slot may not come up even once in a whole stream, so do not put a mission there if you want it to happen at least once. If you want something to come up very rarely, an end is the right place.
Amount and marble count
One marble drops for every 1,000 won, up to ten at a time. The cap keeps the screen from being covered by marbles when a large amount comes in, and however small the amount, at least one marble drops.
At 10,000 won you reach the cap of ten, so a larger amount gives the same number of marbles. With several marbles, they often land in different slots, so several missions can come up at once. You decide which one to do first.
Even ten marbles do not all pile into the middle. They scatter by the odds above, but on average more than half still land in the four middle slots.
Writing your missions
How you fill the eight slots is the whole board, so a few things make it run much better.
First, write things that finish in one go. To keep the stream flowing, a mission has to be something you can do right there, and long ones take the fun out of the board.
Next, leave a few Miss slots. If all eight slots ask you to do something, you get no time to breathe when donations pile up. That is why the default missions include two Miss slots.
Last, write them so viewers can see what to expect. The slot text shows on screen as written, so it is better when reading it tells people what is about to happen.
The same donation always lands in the same place
The path a marble takes is set by that donation's details. So the same donation lands in the same slot however many times you replay it, and the result does not change when you need to show the board again during a stream.
What you can use today
Linking to a donation platform for real needs a widget key, and that is still in preparation. For now you can use demo mode to see how the board runs and to write your missions ahead of time.
